United Trust Bank, based in London, has upped the rate on its month fix from 1. Another week, another top one-year fixed rate savings account - this time it's offered by London-based United Trust Bank. It comes just a week after Charter Savings Bank — which was created earlier in the year — launched a two per cent month fix.

Competition in this part of the savings market has been bubbling for weeks, with a number of challengers now offering better short-term fixes than earlier in the year.
