Nyse amex options trading floors
The NYSE Euronext today opened a brand new trading floor for its NYSE Amex options exchange business. The American Stock Exchange Amex was acquired by NYSE Euronext last year and has now made the transition to its new trading home on the NYSE floor. The new trading floor is housed adjacent to the main NYSE equities trading floor in the Wall Street location.
It features two adjoining rooms with trading pits where specialists are located in the center of the room, surrounded by market makers and brokers on the outside of the pits. The NYSE Amex options trading floor is built on completely new technology based on the NYSE Arca platform.
NYSE Euronext also operates the NYSE Arca options exchange separately. The new floor was built in 8 months and features a new handheld order system. The Amex Nyse amex options trading floors business has about 6 percent of market share now, but with the new technology platform and continued investment in the business, Niederauer says he hopes to see that number reach double digits.
